At a young age, Willemijn was already interested in writing and the Arabic culture. She choose to study Media, Information Communication at the university of Amsterdam. She helps organizing and hosting the network event ‘Friday afternoon couscous’ and travels every year to Morocco to learn Arabic.
She leaves FunX to develop herself as a sidekick and producer at the regional radio Rijnmond and to develop her own show with two co-hosts at the local radiostation Den Haag FM. After a while she works further as a freelance journalist and host for Den Haag FM, Open Rotterdam, Winq/Gaykrant, VICE, AD (regio Den Haag en Rotterdam) and more.
During her next trip to Morocco she writes and publish stories about this fascinating country – she likes this so much she decides to do move to Morocco and make a living of this. August 2016 she was on the plane to Rabat and now she works as a correspondent for NOS, VRT, Knack and ARD, and writes for NGO’s.
